SUING ARIZONA

To the left is a picture of the wide open expanse of Arizona.  It was during a trip I took in 2008 to visit my mom and the in-laws who live in Prescott and Surprise respectively.  What a miserable trip it was!  Late June and a heatwave came washing over the state while we were there.


My son and I both came back with heat rashes.  But the main reason I was miserable was that I, being the standout conservative in the family was visiting my mom, who is the unabashed communist in the family.  And this during an election cycle when Mr. Incompetent was running for Pres.  And my wife's new stepmother is a hypocritical Christian socialist.

Old history now.  I haven't been back since.  After BHO gets into office and proves his incompetence, and a series of legislative moves by AZ, the federal government sues AZ for it's immigration enforcement bill which is actually mirroring federal law.  Ridiculous.  I find myself torn.  On one hand I can't stand the desert.  I hate 120deg heat in the shade.  I hated my trip there.  But I find myself drawn to the rugged individualism of her citizens.  Though, not all.

I'm not really sure what has happened with that lawsuit.  I hope AZ keeps fighting.  It is now late winter of 2012, and our family is scheduled to head back to AZ for another stab at visiting the same family members.  Oh great.  Here we go again - and during an election cylce.  At least their current sitting community organizer in chief has shown himself to be worthless and I can get my digs in.

JESUS CHRIST And Newtown CT - Where Is God?

     Where was God on Friday, December 14th?  And for that matter during the Virginia Tech shooting?  And the theater shooting in Aurora, CO?  And the Columbine High School shooting?  We can keep going, but you get the idea.  We can also ask this question in respect to the 9/11 attack.  But for this column I want to stay focused on the school attacks.         And when the face of evil confronts us, a godless society turns to Christians and says, "Where is your God?  Why did he let this happen?"   God was there.  And his heart is sad.  satan was there as well and his heart is black with joy at the discord his agent has sown.  Yes, the shooter was evil.  And yes, the shooter was doing the evil one's plans.           Our national spiritual history has led us to this point.  We have kicked God out of our classrooms and made Christians out to be wackos.  We redefine marriage to be what we think it is and not what God has ordained.  Cultural relativism says that

The DEATH Penalty and being Christian

Can I be a 100% sold out born again Christian AND also support capital punishment (death penalty)?  I believe the answer is yes. From a Biblical and moral position, the book of Leviticus allows for the death penalty. There's even an allowance that if your own child curses the name of the parent, you as the parent can stone them to death. Yikes! I think that God was putting that one in knowing how hard that would be and giving humans the opportunity to show mercy.  Yes, but it is also still there. But the New Testament has put mercy over the law, one would say.  Jesus came as fulfillment of the law, and yes his one sacrifice on the cross eliminates the sacrificial system.  Isn't it interesting that for thousands of years the Jews made sacrifices to God, and then after the Romans destroy the temple there have not been sacrifices since?
